´Musings of One Thousand and One Nights of Solitude´: Author Releases Collection of 1,045 Original Maxims, Aphorisms and Poems
BLOOMINGTON, Ind., May. 09 /PRNewswire/ --
BLOOMINGTON, Ind., May 9 /PRNewswire/ -- "Thinking about the events and feelings, about the ups and downs, which shape our lives, as opposed to just living them, lends color and depth to what otherwise is little more than a humdrum existence," explains Bardas Benetbunk, author of "Musings of One Thousand and One Nights of Solitude" (published by AuthorHouse -- http://www.authorhouse.com).
Benetbunk's collection of maxims, aphorisms, and unanswered questions attempts to lend coherence to the thoughts that visited his mind over a great number of years, and the reflections they occasioned. A small amount of poetry is sprinkled throughout the book, each poem expressing an idea or particular aspect of life without sacrificing rhyme and rhythm:
Dry Well
You mother's coffin's lowered deep;
You watch, a stone that cannot weep.
But through all the years of anguish,
As her mind would slowly vanish,
Did they see the tears you shed,
Steeped in sorrow by her bed?
"Musings of One Thousand and One Nights of Solitude" retrieves and articulates the fleeting thoughts, feelings and glimpses of life that many experience on a daily basis, but all too often overlook and under-analyze. The selections are numbered 1-1,045 and cover a wide array of topics on life, discovery and the unknown:
44. Little respect is due to a degree that confers upon the holder the
right to engage in an occupation that others have engaged in quite
successfully with no degree at all.
66. Writing a little cryptically at times is a token of intellectual
respect for one's readers.
86. Which is the greater unfairness, that some are rich, or that some are
good looking? Would the young answer this question the same way as
the middle-aged?
Bardas Benetbunk is a happily married mathematics professor, born and raised in Romania. He and his wife came to the United States 37 years ago, and have one son who was born in New York. "It goes without saying that it took many years, and a fair deal of courage, to tackle the job of writing in a language other than my mother tongue," says Benetbunk. "Musings of One Thousand and One Nights of Solitude" is his first book.
