LANSING, Mich., Mar. 27 /PRNewswire/ --
LANSING, Mich., March 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Accident Fund Insurance Company of America has recognized Clark Construction Company for its outstanding achievements in creating a safe work environment. Clark Construction received the Gold Award from MIOSHA in 2005 for one million hours without a lost-time injury, and is now approaching the Platinum level. Since 1996 only 20 companies in Michigan have received the Platinum Award for safety.

The construction company's efforts were recognized at a lunchtime ceremony on Wednesday, March 19, where Accident Fund leadership presented Chuck Clark, Clark Construction President, with a plaque in their honor. "Clark Construction continues to raise the bar for workplace safety," said Al Gileczek, Accident Fund Vice President of Regional Operations. "Construction companies typically have higher injury rates. Clark takes a different approach and engages every employee to establish a company-wide commitment to safety. This is why they have been able to reach this milestone."
Clark Construction works hard at reducing risk, and increasing safety education and awareness among its employees. "Safety is part of our culture and we're committed to it from the top down," said Chuck Clark. "We have a lot of people exposed to risks every day and we realize this is an ongoing team effort. We don't want to leave anything to 'luck' or 'fate.' We want to ensure success because of our company-wide processes." Clark went on to say that, "We are appreciative for the support and advice offered by Accident Fund. There aren't many companies that can say they have such a valuable resource in their local workers compensation provider."
Accident Fund's Loss Prevention team works closely with agents and policyholders to provide safety programming and support. "It takes the combined group efforts of Accident Fund, Clark Construction and its agent, Willis of Michigan, to achieve this kind of exceptional result," Gileczek said.
