Brasil Ecodiesel Produces 52.6% of Brazil´s Total Biodiesel Output in 2007

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil, March 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Brasil Ecodiesel Industria e Comercio de Biocombustiveis e Oleos Vegetais S.A. ("Brasil Ecodiesel" or "Company") and (Bovespa ECOD3) -- the largest biodiesel producer in Brazil -- announces its results for the fourth quarter of 2007 (4Q07) and informs its shareholders on developments within the Company and the industry.

The Company's financial statements are prepared pursuant to Brazilian Corporate Law and presented on a consolidated basis in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles in Brazil. The 4Q07 results are presented in comparison with those of the 3Q07 and 4Q06 in order to highlight the important advances in the Company's business.

4Q07 HIGHLIGHTS -- Production of 91,870 m3 in the 4Q07, giving an annual total of 211,908 m3, 52.6% of Brazil's total biodiesel output in 2007. -- Six biodiesel plants in operation, with a total annual production capacity of 640,000 m3, one of the highest in the world. -- Conclusion of the installation of the oil extraction units in Iraquara (Bahia) and Sao Luis Gonzaga (Rio Grande do Sul). -- Biodiesel sales of 75,763 m3 in the 4Q07 and 190,434 m3 in 2007, giving average quarter-over-quarter growth of 70% since the 1Q06. -- Net revenue of R$ 134.3 million in the 4Q07 and R$ 335.6 million in 2007, 533.9% up on 2006. -- Net loss of R$ 24.4 million in the 4Q07 and R$ 37.7 million in 2007, primarily due to the increase in vegetable oil prices and below- capacity operations.
