Illinois paper boy helps save elderly customer who fell

SYCAMORE, Ill. (AP) - A 9-year-old northern Illinois newspaper carrier is being called a hero for helping save the life of an elderly customer.

Ethan Hall was delivering papers in the town of Sycamore on Saturday when he noticed mail and newspapers piling up outside the home of 92-year-old Evelyn Kikkebush (kik-uh-BUSH').

He tried to look into Kikkebush's windows, but was unable to see past the blinds. He returned home and told his parents, who called police.

Officers arrived at Kikkebush's home to find the woman on the floor of her kitchen, where she'd fallen three days before.

Kikkebush was treated for dehydration and other injuries at a hospital, but had no broken bones.

Sycamore Police Chief Don Thomas says Hall will receive a commendation for having the good sense to realize something was amiss.
